Welcome to my portfolio website. My name is Andy Thi and this page provides a little information about myself.
I was raised in a Chinese family searching for survival and a better life. My family emigrated from Vietnam to Seattle, Washington after the Vietnam War. I am among the first generation of my family to be born in America, and the oldest of three children.
When I was young, I loved to draw, color, and design. My favorite activity as a child was playing with the construction toy Lego. I enjoyed following the graphic instructions when building up to the structural image display on the retail box. I remember challenging myself by creating a small-scale village using branches, leaves, rocks, and dirt from my backyard instead of using Legos with instructions. I first discovered my real talent for drawing when taking an art class in high school, while also learning about drafting and AutoCAD during this time. These directions led me to build upon my talent as I realized I could use this skill to pursue a career that includes drawing and design.
As a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington, I am grateful to be the first in the family to graduated from a university. This portfolio website showcases my academic, professional, and freelance work for the audience’s review.
